I hail from South Africa and originally came to Londonto study theatre for two years before returning home where I was artistic director of the Lyric Theatre in Durban.I landed in London with no money intending to sleep on a park bench in Hyde Park but unfortunately for my memoires I found I had friends in London and was put up in a flat in Montague Square next door to Ringo Star and opposite Peter Sellers.
I London I found fifty two West End Theatres and two Opera Houses and phoned home to say "sell up. I'm not coming home" We only had one professional theatre in Durban. My interest in theatre is as a director/designer and since arriving in London I have been fortunate enough to direct and design over fifty operas and I don't know how many plays working all over England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Spain , South Africa, Russia and New York.
Besides designing and painting for the theatre I have been working in water colours and oil and doing sculpture and photography, hence the varied collection on my gallery. I have an avid love of sculpture and have photographed plus or minus two thousand sculptures from allover the world.
I must sincerely thank Tim of HOT-Y-Chromosomes for his help and encouragement and for explaining some simple things I could not understand in this strange world of Da. Also for the encouragement and help he is affording so many others with his group and particularly for promoting sculpture.
Also, thank you to to all the rest of you who have taken time to contact me and sometimes to explain. If i've missed thanking you personally it is because at first I didn't know how.
Should anybody be interested I would be happy to accept commissions for anything from doodles to full sice sculptures. Please refer to my web [link]
